Travelling Gantry

Specifications

The Gantry is designed to weld Box structures (Aluminium heat exchangers) on four vertical faces 2000mm wide to a maximum height of 4300mm, this installation has been supplied to a world leading producer of Industrial gases. Mounted onto the carriage is a triple vertical slide arrangement made up of three individual slides - this allows the weld head 4000mm of vertical movement. The welding equipment is Fronius twin wire (single head ) and this is attached to the multi axes positioning head. Each axis is fitted with an encoder (for positional feedback ) and controlled by S.E.W variable speed motors and drives housed in a control panel linked to a Fronius Weld Controller Type PA9000. All controls are operated by a pre-programmed PLC which performs high accuracy Tig welding.

Specifications

Table rotation through two thyristor controlled D.C. motors, two reduction gearboxes and two sets of spur pinions to final large diameter spur gear which is independent from the cross roll bearing. A magnetic brake is incorporated in each motor drive.

Tilting is through a D.C. motor drive fitted at each end of the cradle, each drive consisting of one thyristor controlled D.C. motor - forced cooling - two reduction gearboxes and two sets of spur pinions engaging with large diameter spur gear.
